Fae (Carpenter) Spencer passed away with her loving family at her side on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at her home in Solomon, Arizona where she resided most of her 89 years. Fae was born on June 22, 1929, in Pima Graham County, AZ, to Norman and Pearl (Reed) Carpenter.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with pioneer heritage, she held strong to her faith and love of the Gospel. She attended Brigham Young University (BYU) where she met the man of her dreams, her husband and companion of 67 years, Donald Ned Spencer.
After Don graduated from BYU, they moved to Blackfoot Idaho for the first few years of their marriage. With Fae’s yearning to be closer to her family they moved to the Gila Valley, where she lovingly raised seven children. She is grandmother to twenty-one grandchildren and great grandmother to twenty-three great grandchildren.
Fae loved life. An avid fan of the Diamondbacks, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. She shared her time and talents with others in the church and community throughout her life with love, devotion, and commitment. She enjoyed her church activity and cherished serving others, always magnifying her callings, including Relief Society President of the Solomon Ward, Safford Stake. Fae always had the ability to teach and to provide, to lend a hand to others and lift the down-trodden.
Fae is survived by her husband, Donald, and their seven children: Brent and Cheryl Spencer, Douglas and Adrienne Spencer, Kirt Spencer, Randall and Christine Spencer, Kristi Spencer, Clinton and Julie Spencer, and Shelly and Tony Leek. She is survived by her siblings: Norma Clonts, Diane Knight, and Jeff Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Carpenter.
Public viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018, at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, and again in Solomon before the funeral.
