Eleanor D. Matt, 63, passed away September 24, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix surrounded by family. She was born April 26, 1955, in Morenci to parents Arturo L. and Patsy Rios Delgado, joining sister Lillian (Dee Dee), and later adding a sister and brother Lisa and Paul Anthony.

Eleanor graduated from Safford High School in 1973, and was described as a nice, sweet girl in school, full of laughter. She carried that spirit with her throughout her life.

She worked for the Arizona Department of Economic Security, retiring after 17 years of service as a child support officer II.

As a longtime resident of Graham County, Eleanor dedicated her life to those around her. A devoted Catholic, she volunteered at St. Rose of Lima, she volunteered as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for children and she participated in numerous community events.

Ingrained with the family values she grew up with, she raised her two boys — John and Eric Martinez — both of whom eventually became entrepreneurs.

As a sister, aunt and cousin, she was a leader, a caretaker and a problem solver. All in all, Eleanor (Nina) is a Graham County member who will be missed but not forgotten.

Eleanor is survived by: sons, John C. Martinez and wife Julie, and Eric D. Martinez and fiancé Pilar Ojeda; siblings Lillian (Dee Dee) Chavez and Lisa and Vincent Bejarano; nieces and nephews, Brittnie Montez, Mikael Bejarano, Devan Delgado and Analisa Tolman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Riana Montez, Audrina Montez and Jacob Montez; and pets, Angel, Heidi and Ginger.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Arturo L. Delgado and Patricia Rios Delgado; sibling, Paul Anthony Delgado; and Olivia (Kiddo) Martinez.

Services will be held Friday, Oct 5th St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Viewing will be at 8 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. Rosary and a Mass to celebrate her life at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow.
