From 1990 on he was a member of the Geronimo Hotshot Crew.  Later his family was blessed with a home from the Mt. Turnbull Housing Subdivision, he continued to work for his family while working numerous jobs and held numerous positions in the field of forestry.  After forestry he enjoyed mining with his brother Chutt.  He continued to take care of his children even though they were grown.  In the year of 2005, he received the greatest news that he was going to be a grandpa “Papa” and later his first granddaughter was born Kaitlyn Laci Waterman, later came Aubrey Love Waterman in the summer of 2008 and his first grandson Darin Dean Bullis came.  He loved his three grandkids with all his heart and enjoyed their company.

The years after, he enjoyed his outdoor walks, listening to his classic rock music, doing crossword puzzles, looking after his mom, enjoyed the company of his kids & grandkids and having home cooked meals - his favorite dish was meatloaf and mashed potatoes. He also attended many classic rock concerts with his brother Jack and sister Emy.  Darrell was a very humble, respectful, loving, supportive and caring person with a strong spirit and lived life to the fullest.  The Lord took him home early Thursday morning on March 28, 2019.
