Florence Elizabeth (Quinlan) Cuenin, age 78, passed away on January 2, 2018 at her home in Safford, Arizona. She was born on December 2, 1939 in Bristol, Connecticut to Attorney Edward and Nancy (Peck) Quinlan as the youngest of five children.

Flo, also known as Flossie was educated in Bristol Public Schools and Central Connecticut State University where she matriculated with degrees in Education. Before accepting a teaching position with the United States Department of Defense School in Japan, Flo taught in her hometown. After three years of service in Japan, Flo taught in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she met her husband-to-be Richard, also a New Englander. They married in 1974 and were blessed with their only child Daniel in 1977.

In 1983, Flo and family moved to Northern Arizona where Flo taught on the Navajo Reservation in Ganado. In 1985, the family relocated to Safford as Flo accepted a teaching position with the Safford Unified Schools at Lafe Nelson School which lasted until she retired in 1999.

Flo and Dick often traveled, and she continued to do so after Dick passed in 2009. Summers were always spent in the northeast near family and old friends. Besides traveling, Flo frequented the opera, enjoyed reading, movies, swimming and being with her family, friends, and pets. She generously gave to many charities and will be remembered for her friendly demeanor and sense of humor.

Flo was a faithful parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Cuenin, sister Mary Donovan, brother Dr. Edward Quinlan and a nephew and niece. Left behind are her son Daniel August (Hilary) Cuenin from Safford, two granddaughters, Lauren and Kaitlyn, a sister Nancy (Gary) McCarthy, from Bristol, Connecticut, a brother, John Quinlan, from West Hartford, Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
